Product Model Making
As a product designer, one important process is to make models from a variety of materials. This process allows the designer to play with the original concept, but is also a form of communication on how you envision the product between others.
Design Project
Design piece furniture for a selected market. The only restriction is that it’s made completely from cardboard.
I selected the child care/pre-school market. I wanted the design of the chair to be part of learning connection with the children. It could be a table / play item or just a chair depending upon which way it is situated.
I selected the child care/pre-school market. I wanted the design of the chair to be part of learning connection with the children. It could be a table / play item or just a chair depending upon which way it is situated.
Both models are made from cardboard as you can see. The next process I made cad drawing, but also assembled the chair in 3D cad models.
As you can see from the images above. The first design was too complicated, but with the second design the chair has fewer components and is more visually pleasing.
And the real 1:1 cardboard Model
Other Models
Door Handle A door handle design model made from 'blue foam'.
The name of the door handle design is ' Infinity’, because very new door open leads to infinity possibilities. |
